TESDA – Nueva Ecija Has A New Office In PCBH

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is the government agency tasked to manage and supervise technical education and skills development in the Philippines.

The prime responsibility and duty of TESDA is to manage and supervise the country’s Technical Education and Skills Development.  TESDA’s main objective is to develop the workforce with “world-class competence and positive work values” as well as provide quality technical-educational and skills development through its direction, policies, and programs.

TESDA finishers definitely has the advantage in securing employment, locally and worldwide, since they are awarded a National Certificate indicating that they were taught by world class instructors who provided quality education that enabled TESDA graduates acquire proper and expert knowledge of their chosen path.

TESDA – Nueva Ecija Provincial Director Alejandra N. De Jesus revealed that the assessment of the eligibility of TESDA graduates are done by their accredited assessment centers to make sure that the evaluation will be objective and truthful.

In an interview, De Jesus pointed out that the mandate of TESDA is to regulate the training education and skills development in the country which is the reason why TESDA provides the program registration in Nueva Ecija.

“We also schedule the assessment, we regulate the assessment and certification program and aside from that we also monitor the training of other schools approved by TESDA” explained De Jesus.

De Jesus said she is very grateful to Palayan City Mayor Rianne Cuevas and her husband Mr. Vicente “Bong” Cuevas for providing a new office for the TESDA Nueva Ecija Training Center inside the Palayan City Business Hub (PCBH).

“I would like to thank the management of the Palayan City Business Hub for providing us our office in this government building. We will be more comfortable the staff, the customers. For sure we will be able to attain our targets; [our] annual targets. We will be able to give a hundred percent satisfactory to our customers and other stakeholders. Thank you to Sir Bong and [the] Management of [the] Palayan City Business Hub,” De Jesus said.

TESDA supports the government’s “Build, Build, Build” infrastructure program by stepping up its effort to expand the capacity of technical vocational education and training (TVET) in order to obtain at least 200,000 workers nationwide.

According to a UNESCO website, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is concerned with the acquisition of knowledge and skills for the world of work. Throughout the course of history, various terms have been used to describe elements of the field that are now conceived as comprising TVET. These include: Apprenticeship Training, Vocational Education, Technical Education, Technical-Vocational Education (TVE), Occupational Education (OE), Vocational Education and Training (VET), Professional and Vocational Education (PVE), Career and Technical Education (CTE), Workforce Education (WE), Workplace Education (WE), etc. Several of these terms are commonly used in specific geographic areas.

TVET clientele is primarily composed of high school graduates, secondary school dropouts, and college graduates and undergraduates looking to gain the necessary skills in various sectors.

TVET also considers part of their targeted clientele those who are unemployed but actively looking for work, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) returning to the Philippines permanently to work, and those currently employed wanting to enhance or acquire new skills.

Aside from technical courses, the TESDA Language Skills Institute in Nueva Ecija also offers the following courses: English Proficiency; Finishing Course for Call Center Agents NC II, and Nihongo Language Course.

Basic requirements for TESDA courses are the following:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • At least High School graduate
  • Copy of NSO Birth Certificate
  • With good moral character
  • Undergone a pre-training assessment
  • Can communicate both orally and in written form

TESDA Nueva Ecija at the Palayan City Business Hub (PCBH) is open Mondays to Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
